Plant a Tree
What better way to feel connected to this beautiful place than physically planting your tree into the ground. All you need is a tree, pre-dug hole, shovel and watering can. After planting your tree you can return every year for your anniversary to see the tree grow along with your marriage. Take a picture with it every year, one day you’ll be standing underneath it!

Wedding Box
Nail a wood box with your favorite Bayfield mementos, pictures, keepsakes, your ceremony program, wedding invitation, etc. to be opened in 5, 10, or 15 years. You can add love notes to each other, a favor from your wedding (if it is non-perishable), letters from your parents and so much more!

Wine Box
If the two of you enjoy wine (and who doesn’t?) then a wine box unity ceremony is perfect for you! Have a wood box monogrammed with your names and wedding date. During your ceremony, lock the box with a bottle of Bayfield wine and love letters to be opened on your anniversary!

Unity Candle Ceremony
If your ceremony will be held inside, you have a wonderful opportunity to have a unity candle ceremony. Might we suggest you visit Madeline Island Candles? They pour all natural soy and beeswax candles right on Madeline Island and are a great resource for specialty candles!  They can even create custom colors to match your wedding palette.
Wedding Tip: Unity candle ceremonies are not a good idea for outdoor ceremonies. It is very difficult to keep candles lit outside, especially if you are near the water. They are perfect for inside though!

Sand Ceremony
If you have ever visited Bayfield and the Apostle Islands, then you are well aware of the beautiful beaches we have in the area. A perfect way to incorporate Bayfield, literally, in your unity ceremony is with sand! Collect sand from your favorite local beach and then have your beloved do the same. Then on your special day you can combine the two as your unity ceremony.
Wedding Tip: Take a few engagement photos on one of your favorite beaches, frame a photo and pour the sand into that for safekeeping.
